ROLE

In this role I was promoted from H&S Manager to HSQ&E Director in 2010, the two roles, however, were very similar. The promotion was natural progression in the growth of ISG.

In this role I held full accountability for HSQ&E across the Business including over seventy live constructions sites and six permanent offices locations. The sites were spread across four Regions - Scotland, NW England, NE England and the Midlands.

To assist me I had a team of ten HSQ&E Advisers, two compliance managers and two administration staff.

Projects ranged from small refurbishment works from £ 50k to full scale new build projects exceeding £ 60m.

Sectors included, industrial, commercial, banking, defence, policing, prison service, retail and private sector.

PQQ

I designed an electronic Pre-Qualification Questionnaire system (PQQ). The PQQ system was engineered and hosted by data management company DocHosting. The system completely removes the need for countless reams of paper and postage.  The questionnaire is completed by individual suppliers via a secure extranet link and submitted back into the main system when completed for assessment.
The system was adopted by the whole ISG Group.

CID

A second electronic system designed by me and engineered by BIW called C.I.D. (Compliance Information Database) was also adopted by the ISG Group. This system is designed to keep accurate records of hours worked, accidents, incidents, near miss, site HSQE audits and site physical inspections. The system then monitors and reports trends, AIR, AFR and AAFR rates, consolidated site reports, regional business reports and consolidated Group reports.

ABC - Achieving Behavioural Change.

This was the name of the behavioural management programme implemented across ISG.
The course and programme was designed and presented by myself all across the ISG business over a two year period. The results from the programme were very rewarding from the company point of view produced a dramatic reduction in the AIR and AFR rates.
From a human perspective, a better understanding of managing employees, contractor and sub-contractors activities was clearly evident.

BE ALERT

Be Alert, an essential HSQ&E theme. The theme was designed by me for the purpose of having a common focus on all things HSQ&E. (Nothing we do is so important that we can't take the time to do is safely) The theme logo can be found on all HSQ&E publications, posters, hazard board, inductions and induction helmet stickers.
