Senior HSE Adviser
In this role, Senior HSE Adviser I was responsible for day to day HS&E management on a number
of individual projects as part of the project teams.
All of the projects I worked on at AMEC where major civil engineering projects and were usually large
long term projects.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and Company procedures and policies.
- Management on preventing injury to personnel and damage to property.
- Assisting, as necessary, during tendering, planning and pre-contract stages.
- Carry out safety inspections and audits and advise management, as appropriate, to make improvements.
- Monitor trends and make policy improvements to manage trends.
- Investigate accidents, incidents etc. making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
- Assist in identifying training requirements and deliver various training courses.
- Suggest methods to promote health, safety and environmental awareness at all levels.
- Liaise with Enforcing Bodies and Government Officials as is necessary.
- Functionally report and respond to safety and environmental incidents and emergencies etc.
- Attend Company Safety Committee meeting and actively advise on matters.
- Report on a monthly basis to the Board, statistics and performance objectives.
Some Projects worked on;
12 Quays Ferry Terminal, Liverpool. £ 57m
12 Quays - a new Ferry terminal and HGV parking facility, which included a birthing link span and the in filling of two redundant docks using dredged Mersey grit.
Brombourough Waste Water Treatment Works. £ 79m
Bromborough Waste Water treatment works - The complete construction of a waste water treatment plant including, concrete sub-structures, super structures, mechanical and electrical engineering and a 570m tunnel into the river Mersey and associated cofferdam.
Leftbank Appartment, Spinning Fields, Manchester. £ 69m
The construction of 141 apartments, two levels of retail shopping and two levels of sub-basement parking.
The sub structure adjoins the River Orwell and the whole building is sat on a contiguous piled wall. The super structure is a constructed from re-enforced concrete.
M6 Toll Road, Birmingham. £ 499m
Major motorway construction, Project name BNNR (M6Toll). Consists of twenty seven miles of motorway with over 247 under and over structures.
I left this role to go to Morgan Ashurst (Formally Bluestone) for career advancement.
